Vineyard

Nannup Ridge Estate sits high on the granite ridges of the Blackwood River Escarpment inland from the Margaret River Township. During the growing season, the vines enjoy long hours of sunshine followed by cool evenings and moderate coastal breezes in the afternoon, idyllic growing conditions. Abundant water, granite loam soils and low frost and disease pressure all contribute to reliable quality and consistent vintages.

Winemaking

Delicate fruit flavours, fine texture and soft acidity are at the top of our minds when deciding to pick our Rose fruit. After harvest in the coolest hours of the day, the Merlot fruit is cold-crushed and juice immediately separated from the skins in order to yield the lightest colour and finest textures. A brief settled overnight is followed by a clean racking of only the clearest juice. A long cold fermentation further enhanced and preserves the aromatics and crisp flavours, followed by 4 months of ageing on fine less with fortnightly battonage adding additional flavour, texture and depth. The wine is lightly fined and filtered before being bottled.

Colour
A medley of rock melon and salmon tones.

Bouquet
Currants, Bing cherries, plum blossoms and dried thyme.

Palate
Soft textures of cherry glaze and plum skin acidity, balanced by tight lines of brambles, shaved almonds and potpourri. A lithe persistence of rosewater and gravel overlay a bone dry finish with a red fruit blush.

Production
150 Cases,  Alc: 12.40%, Minimal Sulphites
